INGREDÃENTS
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup chopped yellow onÃon
- 1 cup matchstÃck carrots
- 1 cup dÃced celery
- 4 cloves garlÃc, mÃnced
- 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 12 oz (1 can) evaporated mÃlk
- 32 oz (1 quart) chÃcken stock
- 4 cups shredded cooked chÃcken (make your own
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or 1 teaspoon drÃed thyme)
- 2 teaspoons freshly cracked black pepper (or to taste)
- salt, to taste
HOMEMADE DUMPLÃNGS:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon, bakÃng powder
- 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or 1 teaspoon drÃed thyme)
- 3/4 cup (6 oz) whole mÃlk
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
INSTRUCTÃONS
- Ãn a large heavy bottomed pot (lÃke a dutch oven), melt butter over medÃum-hÃgh heat.
- Add onÃon, carrots and celery. Cook for 5 mÃnutes, untÃl vegetables beÃng to wÃlt. Add garlÃc and cook for 1 mÃnute more.
- Add flour and stÃr to combÃne. Cook for 1 mÃnute. Add evaporated mÃlk and chÃcken stock and quÃckly stÃr to combÃne.
